Buon viaggio! Roberto
"Photographically I was born in 1975 with my first camera, a Kodak Retinette that my father gave me as a gift. One day I chanced on a book about darkroom and it fascinated me, so my journey started. In 1980 my mother gave me some money for buying my first camera, a Canon AE1, but I had it stolen just a few days later. I fell in absolute despair, it was my passion and I couldn't take pictures anymore. I started to save money on everything I could and after some time I managed to buy another Canon. From that moment on I never stopped to look towards the world. My innate curiosity prompted me to try again and to stop the time fixing it in pictures. I locked me up for months in a darkroom among acids and developers to achieve what I was looking for. But it was the encounter with Fotoclub 3C of Cascina that gave me a strong boost, I met prepared people and a person that I might call my "father in photography", Silvio Barsotti. The following years were extraordinary and of great satisfactions. Then the cases of life changed the course of things, I started to shot what others wanted, blunting some of my freedom of expression. Today I have found again that passion and that fire that used to burn in me and I started to look at the soul of things and people, new colors, lights and my urge to tell have lightened up.
I try to look beyond the lens and get into the scene, without distorting reality. I just try to tell my emotions and take you around the world using my own eyes."
