British photographer Richard Lewisohn recently visited the retired Gurkhas of Nepal. Deployed to Giri and its surrounding villages, Lewiohn set out to photograph where pensioned Gurkhas of the British Army go after being discharged. Cutbacks in the 1960s forced many Gurkhas into retirement, and those who served fewer than 15 years, receive only a small allowance from the Ghurka Welfare Trust. This is how and where the money is spent.
