Édouard Boubat
was born in 1923. He spent his childhood in Paris and studied typography and
graphic arts at the École Estienne and worked for a printing company before
becoming a photographer. He took his first photograph after the war in 1946 and
was awarded the Kodak Prize the following year. From 1952 to 1967, he traveled
around the world taking pictures, then worked freelance with the Rapho agency.
His friend, the poet Jacques Prévert, called him the “correspondent of peace.” Boubat
died on June 30th, 1999, at the age of 75. vintag.es
