AFGHANISTAN’S LANDSCAPE | MARTIN MIDDLEBROOK

Martin Middlebrook originally trained as a wildlife artist before commencing a career as a commercial photographer. He has become well known for his creative approach to photography, producing stunning black and white images across an array of subjects. In 2010 Martin was commissioned by the Government of Afghanistan to produce an exhibition and book for the Kabul International Conference, a series of images that went on to exhibit at the British Museum in London in 2011. Martin also writes for many of the UK’s leading photography magazines, including being lead columnist for Professional Photographer Magazine. Martin has spent much of the last year based in Afghanistan finishing his humanitarian essay ’Afghanistan - From the Other Side’.

Martin’s work from Afghanistan has exhibited at the Foto 8 Summer exhibition, and has just been awarded two Honourable Mentions at this year’s International Photography Awards (’Editorial – War/Conflict’ and ’A Deeper Perspective’ category). In addition Martin was a winner in the 2013 'The Other Hundred' photo competition.
