Full-time architect José Calheiros uses the thoroughfares and passageways of Lisbon as fertile ground to indulge his street photography hobby. His output has netted him a number of shows locally as well as some images published in magazines. Besides street photography, he has done some advertising photos and works based on Luis Royo paintings and Enki Bilal comic books.
“For me street photography is all i can feel when i am walking around one city and includes people in the most various situations. For me is also if i am in the middle with a wide angle or if i am outside with my tele. The composition is important, and we must feel or see a story behind the photo. I am an architect and i am always looking around, so that helps me to compose my photos in my head before shooting in fractions of seconds, and i only make one photo of the subject. If the photo is not good is because i can’t do what i want. I like very much to mix advertising with people, making humor or critic with the interpretation of the photo.”
