Long Thanh, a professional Black & White
photographer who still uses films and develops photographs by hand. Born in 1951 in Nha Trang, he stared
learning and doing photography when he was 13 years old.
Long Thanh has a clear vision and
approach to his photography that has resulted in a style that is both uniquely
his, but also copied by photographers on every continent. That he was born
in the country he photographs adds an authenticity that outsiders cannot
replicate, and while we can look through these photographic windows to
catch a glimpse of his homeland, his familiarity with his subjects lends a
dimension of tender understanding and subtlety that is lacking from the images
of those who would seek to mimic his style.
